Our RF & Facilities T2 team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of satellite transmission equipment across Optus Satellite Facilities in Sydney, Perth and Canberra. 

 

Based at our Lockridge Satellite Facility in Perth, this Senior Network Engineer role is a great opportunity for a technically skilled individual to work across satellite RF, broadcast and terrestrial transmission systems in a dynamic, 24/7 operational environment.

 

***Relocation support will be considered for this role based in Perth***

 

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and resolve faults across satellite transmission equipment, including signal measurement, equipment resets and replacements.
  • Perform Satellite Control procedures under the direction of the Satellite Control team.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance contractors for facility Plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with Optus and industry standards.
  • Manage equipment repairs with relevant vendors, including executing the Optus Procurement process, and maintain accurate records in SNOW.
  • Support fault resolution between the SOC and T2 team, and maintain accurate station logs of satellite network incidents.
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines and ensure the functionality and integrity of all alarm monitoring systems, including the Maxview M&C system.

 

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Associate Diploma, Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Communications Engineering, with experience in telecommunications and satellite communications.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call roster to support out-of-hours incidents and operational needs.
  • Australian Citizenship is required for this role, along with a valid WA Driver's Licence (Class Car) and willingness to apply for an NV1 Defence security clearance.
  • Hands-on experience in two or more of the following: Satellite Communications or TT&C, VSAT systems, TCP/IP, IP transmission systems, or Digital Satellite/Microwave systems.
  • Experience using satellite system test equipment and commissioning domestic and international satellite services.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and diagnose faults across Earth Station power, UPS, air-conditioning, communications and spacecraft TTC&M equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with solid proficiency across PC and Microsoft Office applications.
