This is a critical enterprise leadership role where you will influence Australia’s regulatory landscape and guide Optus’ strategy across economic, competition and consumer regulation.
What You’ll Do
Partnering closely with the EGM Regulatory Affairs and senior leaders across Optus, you will:
- Lead Optus’ economic and consumer regulatory strategy, shaping policy positions across competition, consumer protection and market regulation
- Drive enterprise-wide regulatory advocacy and reform initiatives, influencing policy outcomes aligned to Optus’ strategic objectives
- Own Optus’ regulatory reporting frameworks, ensuring strong governance, compliance and executive oversight across obligations
- Oversee engagement with regulators and policymakers including the ACCC, ACMA and government bodies, ensuring credible, evidence-based advocacy
- Lead regulatory strategy across consumer protection, scams, cyber security and market conduct frameworks
- Guide responses to regulatory investigations, inquiries and enforcement actions
- Embed regulatory considerations into business decision-making through collaboration with legal, compliance, security and commercial teams
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of regulatory professionals, fostering capability and strategic impact
What You’ll Bring
- Deep expertise in economic regulation, consumer protection, competition law and telecommunications policy
- Proven ability to shape and influence regulatory frameworks through strategic policy leadership and advocacy
- Strong leadership experience building and managing high-performing specialist teams
- Advanced strategic thinking with the ability to translate regulatory change into commercial, risk and enterprise impacts
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with credibility at senior regulator and executive levels
- Extensive experience (12–15+ years) in economic or consumer regulation, policy or regulated industries
- Demonstrated experience working with Australian regulators such as the ACCC and ACMA
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, law, public policy, finance or related discipline (postgraduate highly desirable)
