This role owns and plans Optus Network Cloud platforms, providing the strategic foundation for future core network growth. It is responsible for end‑to‑end platform ownership across NFVI, container platforms (ECCD, TKG, OpenShift), virtualization (ESXi, VMware Integrated OpenStack) and public cloud (AWS), ensuring scalable, reliable and future‑ready network cloud infrastructure.

 

Your day to day will consist of

 

  • Plan and implement Network Cloud hardware and software components.
  • Define Network Cloud architecture, lifecycle management, and upgrade strategies.
  • Coordinate installation, upgrades and changes, providing technical support and issue resolution.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity and future dimensioning requirements.
  • Develop technical studies, design proposals, service catalogues, templates and application models.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and lifecycle plans.
  • Monitor technology trends, legislation and competitive developments impacting Network Cloud.
  • Support alignment with legislative changes, internal policies and technical guidelines.
  • Lead and participate in vendor tenders; manage third‑party engagement and requirements definition.
  • Plan and manage budgets for Network Cloud extensions, upgrades and changes.
  • Manage and contribute to Network Cloud projects, including governance and project documentation.
  • Contribute to expert forums and development of technical standards across Networks.

 

What makes you perfect for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience; wireless industry experience desirable.Strong Network Cloud experience including OpenShift, ESXi, CNIS, NFVI, OpenStack and cloud architecture.
  • Solid Linux expertise (Red Hat) with deep understanding of tenant management and virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM).
  • Hands‑on experience with containers, orchestration and MANO, including OpenStack services and Ericsson CNIS NFVI.
  • DevOps and automation skills using tools such as Python, Bash, Ansible, REST APIs, YAML/JSON.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, OSI model and server load balancing.
  • Experience managing data centre infrastructure, capacity planning and network automation deployments.
  • Proven vendor and project management experience, including budgeting, delivery and governance.
  • Strong problem‑solving, strategic thinking and business acumen with a customer‑focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills, working autonomously while embodying Optus values
