The Operational Architect provides expert technical guidance and develops innovative ICT solutions across Networks, Data Centre, Cloud, and Security, ensuring architectural integrity while supporting customer accounts and business requirements. They are responsible for creating and reviewing technical designs, bills of materials, proposals, costings, and risk assessments, while coordinating design inputs and supporting solutions throughout their lifecycle, including operational changes and major project change requests.
Your day to day will consist of
- Maintain architectural integrity across customer environments by providing expert technical advice, governance, and design authority for converged network solutions.
- Deliver strategic technical leadership and act as a trusted advisor, ensuring customer needs are understood and translated into effective business and technology outcomes.
- Design and oversee complex ICT solutions spanning networking, voice, video, cloud, security, and managed services, including cost, risk, and infrastructure assessments.
- Lead end-to-end solution development and delivery, taking accountability for solution quality, implementation support, and successful operational outcomes.
- Partner proactively with Sales and customers to identify new opportunities, develop value-driven solutions, and deliver executive-level technical presentations.
- Provide Level 3 technical support and architectural guidance for operational issues, troubleshooting, and continuous service improvement.
- Foster strong internal partnerships, drive continuous learning and technology expertise, and contribute to financial performance through revenue growth, profitability, and margin improvement.
What makes you perfect for the role
- 7+ years of senior ICT experience, including 3+ years in pre-sales or Embedded/Operational Architect roles supporting enterprise customers.
- Proven expertise in developing technical designs, bills of materials, proposals, and change requests while maintaining architectural integrity across complex ICT environments.
- Strong experience in managed services, corporate networks, operational support, troubleshooting, and architectural leadership.
- Deep technical knowledge across networking, data centres, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), security, monitoring tools, and telecommunications/IP services.
- Excellent project coordination, analytical, communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated leader with the ability to mentor others, drive continuous improvement, work autonomously, and deliver outcomes under pressure.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or Engineering, with relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, ITIL) highly regarded.
